In short
On an iPhone 15 Pro or newer (any iPhone 16, 17 or 18 model, or iPhone Air), iOS 27 brings Apple Intelligence and the new Siri AI (beta). On older iPhones, you can still get great AI from free apps like ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude.

What Siri AI can do
- Answer almost anything using up-to-date web information.
- Use your personal context: find things in Messages, Mail, Calendar, Notes and more.
- See your screen: ask about what's on it, or act on it (for example, add games from a team's website to your calendar).
- Take actions in apps, like sending a message or creating an event.
- Write with Siri almost anywhere you type: drafts, edits and feedback.
- Siri mode in Camera (Visual Intelligence): point at something and ask about it.
- A new Siri app keeps your conversations synced across Apple devices.
Good to know
- Siri AI is in beta, English first (French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish were promised “next month” in Apple's Sep 14 announcement). You join a waitlist: Settings → Siri → Try Siri AI (Beta).
- Not available in the EU on iPhone, nor in mainland China, for now.
- Features that use Apple's servers have daily usage limits. Apple says expanded access “will be available for a fee in the future”.
- Apple says its new models were built in collaboration with Google and its Gemini models, running on-device and on Apple's Private Cloud Compute.
